POV-Ray output?

Any thoughts on adding a way to export a scene to POV-Ray? It (in theory) has the capability of producing professional looking results, is free, supports smooth animations and so forth.

I've wondered about this before, but I suspect it would be very difficult because of the huge range of scales involved in the rendering. Getting that to work in POV-Ray would be tricky: usually for space scenes you end up having to fake the distant parts of the image. (And POV-Ray starfields are a dark art in themselves)

Just out of curiosity, how does a program like Celestia overcome these issues?
